One year ago, our family was in China meeting Xiao Yu for the first time! In the adoption community, this is called "Gotcha Day". We celebrated with one candle, representing the one year that he has been with our family. He doesn't like cake that much, or ice cream, so we stuck the candle in a marshmallow, which he was happy with!
We were not sure what to "sing" to him, so we just changed some words around in the Happy Birthday song...
One year ago, today, we were waiting for him in the middle of a county office in China when he was dropped off. Here is a picture moments after we came in... He was wearing those super bulky winter clothes that made him look like the Michelin Man.
Later in the day, we got him back to the hotel and settled in.
His first bath with us! He was at first not wanting to go in, but then realized that the water was warm and that baths can be fun!
His first night with us in his new pajamas (actually hand-me-downs from Gabriel, but such is the life of the "4th child".) He is also experimenting with his new toothbrush we brought for him.
So that's our little Xiao Yu from one year ago!
Fast forward to today...he is surrounded by his other siblings, unwrapping a present.
Which was a little toy dog from the Paw Patrol TV show that he loves.
Here are all the kids!
And all the kids making a crazy face! (Except for Xiao Yu--but he'll get the hang of it...)
