River fun!

With the weather so warm here, we have spent a bit of time wading in the rivers that run through our area.  Some of the rivers are really big streams, which is perfect for our kids.  They love playing in the water.

Our friends have a kayak, which the kids find especially fun to ride on.

The girls have a great time in the water.  Gabriel will wade in the water but doesn't love it.

We bring along a fishing pole, sometimes.  The girls really enjoy fishing, at least in concept.  We usually don't catch anything, partly because the girls lose interest after 3 or 4 minutes.

Ballet recital...

Throughout this past school year, the two girls took a ballet and tap dance class together.  One week was ballet, and the next tap.  

Towards the end of the year came time for the performance.  We ordered their costumes and got them ready for the dress rehearsal.  The girls really enjoyed getting their hair done.  Mommy had to use tons of hair spray to slick their hair back.  And they got to put on powder and lipgloss.

Gabriel didn't get any make up but still wanted to join in on the fun.

We were able to watch their dress rehearsal.  The whole concert was set to the music from the movie "Brave" so it was very Irish sounding.

Afterwards, their class got to take a picture together.

They wore tiaras as part of their costumes, which was very exciting.

The next week, it was time for the real thing.  Again, the girls had their hair done and felt like movie stars!

Grandparents from both sides came to watch the performance.

Gabriel also attended.  He actually does very well during these performances because he likes to listen to the music and watch people dance.

The girls finally got on stage to start their dance!

During the intermission, the girls came to sit with us.  They each got flowers.

Karina was pretty pleased!

And…they got to take home their tiaras!  (Which, of course, Gabriel had to try on!)

A visit from the tooth fairy...

Another big milestone has passed in the Yuen household…Eliana lost her first baby tooth!  Her tooth on the lower jaw has actually been loose for weeks and weeks and the permanent tooth has started to come in behind it.

It wiggled and wiggled, and one day, it got stuck on the lip of the bottle she was drinking out of.  And as she pulled the bottle away, off the tooth came!  It bled a tiny bit.

The tooth now lives in the tooth shaped canister that she got from the dentist at the last visit.

And here is Karina inspecting the gap.  Karina then declared that she does NOT want to lose her teeth, since it involved a little bit of blood.
