Poem Reading

Even though Karina is home schooled, she is also part of a program through our local school district where she goes to class one day a week with other kids who are also home schooled.
This past week, Karina and her fellow kindergartners had a poem reading where parents attended.  They kids were previously paired up with a fourth grader who helped them write the poem, and then during the reading, they helped the little ones read.
They did have to go up to a podium and speak into a microphone, which made it seem all the more official.  Here is Karina reading...

And here is the text of the poem:

I am Karina
I am funny, happy, playful, and smart.
I have Ruffy, Eliana, and Xiao Yu.
I love buildings, nature, and television.
I laugh at tickles, knock-knock jokes, an funny faces.
I need a house, car, and food.
I give love, hugs, and kisses.
I'm scared of the dark.
I want to see the movie Beauty and the Beast.
I am Karina.

Good job Karina!

Snow Days!

In early December, we had unusually cold weather, with snow blowing in.  A week later, the same thing happened.

The kids were ecstatic!  Snow ball fight!
We also went out sledding...
It's nice for Daddy when the kids can pull each other on the sled.
As you can see, there was also freezing rain...you can see the sheen on the sidewalk.  It's not nice to walk on but very good for sledding.
Here is the house on a wintry day.
The next day, the car was still covered with a sheet of ice, which meant that in most of the area, no one could get to work and all the schools were closed.

Icicles formed in between our icicle lights.
There was more sledding...this time with Daddy pulling all four kids at once.
Making snow angels...
And taking a "forced" portrait.
In the evening, Karina wanted to build a snowman and an ice sculpture.  With Daddy's help, she got several large pieces of ice.
And formed a little snowman.
And here he is...he lasted for a couple of days before he melted.
