Fun in the snow!

Unlike most years, this year we have gotten quite a bit of snow where we live.  One day, it started snowing and there was a light dusting of snow on the ground.  Because of this, we knew that in some hills to the north of where we live, there would probably be quite a bit of snow!  So, Elvin took the girls exploring.

We went up to go sledding, but the girls could hardly contain themselves.  Immediately after getting out of the car, they wanted to play in the snow.
Karina absolutely loves the snow and would play in it all day long if she could.  She loves laying in it, rolling around in it, walking in it--whatever.
We think that she should have been born a polar bear!
Here is Eliana collecting snow, for some reason...
They finally decided that it was time to go sledding...

This hill is actually a long frontage road that was covered with a good 4 inches of snow and had a good gentle slope to it.
Here's a little video of them going down...
When we were finally done playing, we collected some fresh snow in a cooler to take home.  Why?  Because the kids think the best dessert in the world is fresh snow with some raspberry Torani sauce drizzled on top!

Several days later, a snow storm came out of nowhere and blanketed our neighborhood with a couple of inches of snow.  The kids were ecstatic!

Here is Xiao Yu getting his first ride on a sled.  Of course, he thought it was great.

Everything was fun and a novelty, even helping daddy scrape the snow off of his car.

Xiao Yu tried riding his tricycle out in the snow.  That didn't turn out very well.

Gabriel is usually our home body and doesn't like being outside and the outdoors.  He also doesn't like the cold.  And on top of that, he also doesn't like to wear jackets!  So we were very surprised when he said he wanted to go out into the snow after refusing to go out all morning.  It turned out one of his big concerns was getting his "hair all snowed up".  But, the snow stopped falling in the afternoon, and he ventured out!
We finally convinced Gabey to put on his down jacket so that he could go sledding too.  Daddy had to pull the sled since our neighborhood is fairly flat.
Here's a video of Daddy getting his workout pulling the kids.

After the kids were done sledding, they decided to build a snow man on our front lawn.  Karina made a head and carted it over to our house.
The snow was fairly dry so it was not easy to form the balls for the body and head.
But they did it!  The snowman lasted much longer than the snow on the ground and Xiao Yu loved staring at it from inside the house.
All in all, the kids had a blast!  Even Gabey!
We are glad we live in part of the country where we get snow once in a while!
