Willie Wonka the Musical!

After a long hiatus from the blog....we are starting up again!

This fall, the girls were in another Journey show, this time Willie Wonka.  This was Karina's 13th show since she started Journey as an 8 year old.

Getting ready for rehearsals and shows means getting hair and make up done!

The week before opening night, they have rehearsal in full costume.

Before the show, the kids get in their costumes and then get their microphones on.  Then they have to do a sound check on stage.  Karina does not appreciate that Papai is taking her picture while doing that.
Eliana played a mom and so got some gray hair added on!
Here she is with her "son", Augustus Gloop.
Backstage during the show, it can be a flurry of activity.  After a scene ends, there is a constant stream of kids shuttling back and forth from the stage to the green room, sometimes for a quick costume change.

Here is Eliana, who played Mrs. Gloop.  She did a great job!

Here she is along with the other actors who played the parents and kids that got a tour of the factory after winning a golden ticket.

On the last weekend, they select and hand out awards to various kids for demonstrating exemplary qualities during the rehearsal time, and Karina won an award!  It was the Green Room award and it's for being super helpful in the green room with all the set up, clean up, and other things.  The directors handout the awards.
Yeh-yeh and Nai-nai flew up to watch.

And the next weekend, cousins from Colorado came and saw the show too!

After the last show, it was time to clean up and take everything apart.

Karina was pretty tired after 6 shows over two weekends!
A couple of weeks after the show was over, the entire cast and crew got together again to celebrate in what they call a Director's Event.  There were raffles and Eliana won a Willie Wonka chocolate bar, and it even had a golden ticket inside!  These were donated by a local, small scale chocolate maker and it was really tasty chocolate!

And here is the entire cast.  There were lots of Oompa Loompas!  Great job girls!
